Rugby World Cup

All Blacks vs Italy

Saturday September 30th, Live From 8am

All eyes turn to Lyon as the All Blacks square off with Italy in a crunch Pool A clash which could decide the quarterfinal fates of both teams.

The All Blacks started the tournament with a 27-12 loss to host France before bouncing back to defeat Namibia 71-3 in their second game. Italy have picked up two bonus point wins in their opening two games at the Rugby World Cup. In round one, the Kieran Crowley-coached side swamped Namibia 52-8 before overcoming a first half deficit to beat Uruguay 38-17.

With three teams in Pool A now battling for the two playoff spots, bonus points become crucially important for all sides. France sits atop the pool on 13 points with one game remaining against Italy. Italy is in second place on a maximum of 10 points after their two games. The All Blacks are in third place on five points. Whether it is securing a bonus point by scoring four tries or more, or by losing by seven points or less, every competition point will be crucial as the quarterfinalists from Pool A are confirmed next weekend.

Doors open from 7.45am, game start at 8am.

Rugby World Cup

South Africa vs Ireland

Live From 8am Sunday September 24th

Top-ranked Ireland and defending champion South Africa meet for the first time in Rugby World Cup history.

Officially, the result merely offers pole position in Pool B. Psychologically, the winner will amplify their credentials to win the tournament while the loser will suddenly have new doubts about its title chances.

South Africa has set its stall by choosing seven forwards among its eight reserves, a ploy it previously used to devastating effect against Rugby Championship winner New Zealand just before the tournament. The Springboks had the All Blacks cooked by halftime then swapped out their forward pack and turned a beating into a record-sized thrashing.

Ireland are on a national-record run of 15 wins since July last year, having swept every other top-10 team including South Africa 19-16 last November in Dublin.

Call us now at 03 260 0866 to book your table for this game, full breakfast, coffee and drinks menu available.

Doors open at 7.30am.

Since the first meeting in 1921, they have played 103 Tests, New Zealand has won 61 Tests, and South Africa 38 with four drawn. In 45 Tests played in New Zealand, the home team has won 32 times with three draws, while in 52 Tests played in South Africa, the home team has won 26, one more than the All Blacks, with one drawn.

New Zealanders have dominated the individual scoring between the countries.

Kick off at 7.05pm, this one is going to be epic.

The likes of Jody Direen, Kayla Mahon, Liv McBride and Jenny Mitchell are flying the flag for country in its many forms, and to that list we can add Michelle Beck.

The young Wairio songstress promised much in the early stages of her career and she’s delivered emphatically with her debut CD Fight For Her.

The seven country-rock songs here are honest and engaging, with big hooks tailor-made for radio and lyrics that touch hearts and nerves.  It’s an astonishingly assured first step in the industry.
